标题:Deep Visual Foresight for Planning Robot Motion

简介:A key challenge in scaling up robot learning to many skills and environments is removing the need for human supervision, so that robots can collect their own data and improve their own performance without being limited by the cost of requesting human feedback. Model-based reinforcement learning holds the promise of enabling an agent to learn to predict the effects of its actions, which could provide flexible predictive models for a wide range of tasks and environments, without detailed human supervision. We develop a method for combining deep action-conditioned video prediction models with model-predictive control that uses entirely unlabeled training data. Our approach does not require a calibrated camera, an instrumented training set-up, nor precise sensing and actuation. Our results show that our method enables a real robot to perform nonprehensile manipulation - pushing objects - and can handle novel objects not seen during training.

标题:Fault Diagnosis of a Reconfigurable Crawling– Rolling Robot Based on Support Vector Machines

简介:As robots begin to perform jobs autonomously, with minimal or no human intervention, a new challenge arises: robots also need to autonomously detect errors and recover from faults. In this paper, we present a Support Vector Machine (SVM)-based fault diagnosis system for a bio-inspired reconfigurable robot named Scorpio. The diagnosis system needs to detect and classify faults while Scorpio uses its crawling and rolling locomotion modes. Specifically, we classify between faulty and non-faulty conditions by analyzing onboard Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor data. The data capture nine different locomotion gaits, which include rolling and crawling modes, at three different speeds. Statistical methods are applied to extract features and to reduce the dimensionality of original IMU sensor data features. These statistical features were given as inputs for training and testing. Additionally, the c-Support Vector Classification (c-SVC) and nu-SVC models of SVM, and their fault classification accuracies, were compared. The results show that the proposed SVM approach can be used to autonomously diagnose locomotion gait faults while the reconfigurable robot is in operation.

[文献速递]改进机动车系统稳定与油耗的动力系统优化方案

标题:Powertrain Optimization to Improve Vehicle Performance and Fuel Consumption

简介:The available gearbox transmission ratios associated with gear shifting strategies influence the vehicle performance and fuel consumption because it changes the powertrain inertia and the engine operation point. However, the best configuration for the vehicle powertrain, according to a specific driving condition, is difficult to be determined. Therefore, this paper presents an Interactive Adaptive-Weight Genetic Algorithm to optimize the vehicle powertrain gear ratios and the gear shifting strategies to allow the vehicle to operate in the best compromise among fuel consumption and performance in the urban driving scenario provided by the FTP-72 cycle. The optimization process results in a fuel saving of 10.61% and 50.12% improvement in the vehicle performance when using the best-compromised configuration.

标题:Assessment of flat rolling theories for the use in a model-based controller for high-precision rolling applications

简介:In the electrical and medical industries the trend towards further miniaturization of devices is accompanied by the demand for smaller manufacturing tolerances. Such industries use a plentitude of small and narrow cold rolled metal strips with high thickness accuracy. Conventional rolling mills can hardly achieve further improvement of these tolerances. However, a model-based controller in combination with an additional piezoelectric actuator for high dynamic roll adjustment is expected to enable the production of the required metal strips with a thickness tolerance of +/-1 μm. The model-based controller has to be based on a rolling theory which can describe the rolling process very accurately. Additionally, the required computing time has to be low in order to predict the rolling process in real-time. In this work, four rolling theories from literature with different levels of complexity are tested for their suitability for the predictive controller. Rolling theories of von Karman, Siebel, Bland & Ford and Alexander are implemented in Matlab and afterwards transferred to the real-time computer used for the controller. The prediction accuracy of these theories is validated using rolling trials with different thickness reduction and a comparison to the calculated results. Furthermore, the required computing time on the real-time computer is measured. Adequate results according the prediction accuracy can be achieved with the rolling theories developed by Bland & Ford and Alexander. A comparison of the computing time of those two theories reveals that Alexander's theory exceeds the sample rate of 1 kHz of the real-time computer.

简介:A new strip shape control model is established to achieve the synchronizing control of complex shape defects, which can not only takes advantage of the mechanism model's strong analysis ability, but also combines with the fast online calculation function of intelligent model to reduce the poor efficiency regulation. Firstly, the dynamic target strip shape is expressed with the Legendre polynomial contained various components to describe all kinds of online shape targets, so it is easier to compare the shape control effect. Secondly, with the dynamic influence matrix and the efficiency function, some different control methods can be tightly combined in one regulation cycle to carry out the synchronous parallel control and the serial relay regulation, respectively. At the same time, by the DE-ELM method, the intelligent shape control model can play an important role to improve the regulation efficiency of the online strip shape. On the other hand, the collaboration regulation model can make full use of all the effectiveness of each control methods according to their respective characteristics, so that the high precision of the strip shape control is able to be obtained.

标题:Analysis of transient heat source and coupling temperature field during cold strip rolling

简介:In the process of cold thin strip rolling, the effect of the roll gap heat source on the transient temperature of cold rolled strip is very significant, and especially for the lateral temperature difference fluctuation which easily leads to the additional shape deviation of the rolled strip. In this study, according to the new heat resource model, the coupled temperature field model with high precision can be established, and the influence of the heat resource on the transient temperature of the cold rolled strip can be obtained by comprehensively considering the emulsion heat transfer coefficient, the air cooling, and the heat conduction boundary conditions. Based on the above models and the actual working parameters, several cases were performed to show the detailed analyses of the transient temperature distributions under various rolling conditions. The results at different strip positions show that the lateral distributions of the roll gap heat source and the strip transient temperature at every stand or pass can be simulated well. This study can improve the calculation precision of the transient lateral temperature difference for the complex online shape deviations during cold thin strip rolling.

设计并大量生产某一个零部件,增材制造的加工成本远高于常规制造的成本,这主要是因为与传统制造方法相比,增材制造工艺相对较慢。但是,当零部件需要对原设计进行修订时,增材制造的成本可能会有竞争力,甚至更低,这主要取决于零部件生产的数量。2018Wohlers报告的调查显示,金属零部件成本中46%与加工过程中的前处理和后处理相关,这种成本的很大一部分通常涉及支撑结构的生产和拆卸,也称为锚固。设计精良的零部件可以大大减少对这种支撑材料的需求,从而降低成本。

增材制造设计的优良方法可以通过使产品重量大大减轻,并通过拓扑优化、生成设计和点阵结构提高性能来增加产品的价值。传统制造的产品由许多简单的部件组成,可以重新设计,将组件组合成单个部件,这减少了零件数量、库存和组装成本。使用大规模定制的方法,产品可以在不大幅增加成本的情况下满足客户的个性化需求,所以知道如何和何时使用增材制造设计技术在加工生产中尤为重要。

标题:Unsupervised Fault Diagnosis of a Gear Transmission Chain Using a Deep Belief Network

简介:Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, which can effectively analyze massive amounts of fault data and automatically provide accurate diagnosis results, have been widely applied to fault diagnosis of rotating machinery. Conventional AI methods are applied using features selected by a human operator, which are manually extracted based on diagnostic techniques and field expertise. However, developing robust features for each diagnostic purpose is often labour-intensive and time-consuming, and the features extracted for one specific task may be unsuitable for others. In this paper, a novel AI method based on a deep belief network (DBN) is proposed for the unsupervised fault diagnosis of a gear transmission chain, and the genetic algorithm is used to optimize the structural parameters of the network. Compared to the conventional AI methods, the proposed method can adaptively exploit robust features related to the faults by unsupervised feature learning, thus requires less prior knowledge about signal processing techniques and diagnostic expertise. Besides, it is more powerful at modelling complex structured data. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated using datasets from rolling bearings and gearbox. To show the superiority of the proposed method, its performance is compared with two well-known classifiers, i.e., back propagation neural network (BPNN) and support vector machine (SVM). The fault classification accuracies are 99.26% for rolling bearings and 100% for gearbox when using the proposed method, which are much higher than that of the other two methods.

标题:Comparative radiation measurements in the Russian segment of the International Space Station by applying passive dosimeters

简介:AbstractThe Phoenix space experiment started in 2014 with the purpose of investigating the impact of space radiation on genetic properties and survival of biological samples exposed on-board the International Space Station. In the on-going project absorbed dose rates are measured in the direct vicinity of the samples in three different modules of the Russian segment by applying sets of passive dosimeters. The combined detector sets comprising of thermoluminescent dosimeters made of LiF:Mg, Ti (MTS-6, MTS-7, DTG-4) materials and solid state nuclear track detectors made of PADC (polyallyl-diglycol-carbonate) are recovered in four consecutive sessions. Averaged measurements by the participants from the first session resulted in more than two and a half times higher total dose rate in the Pirs docking module than in the Service module. This difference might be explained by the much weaker shielding of the Pirs module, thus the greater contribution of high linear energy transfer (LET) components to the dose rate and the easier penetration of low-LET particles. In addtition to the dosimetric results several differences were revealed and discussed regarding the evaluation processes applied by the participating laboratories.Highlights

摘要:A lunar roving vehicle is of great significance in the processing of manned lunar exploration for long-duration space exploration missions. The mechanical model of the lunar roving vehicle's wheel directly affects the mobility performance. However, the wheel of lunar roving vehicle is a special one with the metal mesh surface, and the soil can penetrate through its surface. In this paper, the mechanical model of a rigid normal wheel is deduced, and four stress correction coefficients are introduced to obtain the mechanical model of the lunar roving vehicle's wheel. These four stress correction coefficients are identified in several groups of experiment of the lunar roving vehicle's wheel, and using the functional coefficients can have a high precision for the mechanical model of the lunar roving vehicle's wheel.

标题:The National-Level Economic Impact of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) : Estimates for Fiscal Year 2017

摘要:A recent study by the W.E. Upjohn Institute found the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program generates a substantial economic and financial return of nearly 14.5:1 for the $128 million annually invested by the federal government.  The study also finds that total employment in the U.S. was over 219,000 higher because of MEP center projects than without the program.  The Upjohn study also examined additional areas of economic impact not previously reported by the MEP Program: (1) personal income is $13.76 billion higher and (2) GDP is $22.01 billion larger, translating into an increase of $1.86 billion in personal income tax revenue to the federal government than without the program.

摘要:The Resource Prospector (RP) is an in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) technology demonstration mission, designed to search for volatiles at the Lunar South Pole. This is NASA's first near real time tele-operated rover on the Moon. The primary objective is to search for volatiles at one of the Lunar Poles. The combination of short mission duration, a solar powered rover, and the requirement to explore shadowed regions makes for an operationally challenging mission. To maximize efficiency and flexibility in Mission System design and thus to improve the performance and reliability of the resulting Mission System, we are tailoring Agile principles that we have used effectively in ground data system software development and applying those principles to the design of elements of the mission operations system.

标题:Industrie 4.0 - Vision und Moglichkeiten

简介:Industrie 4.0 bezeichnet eine digitalisierte industrielle Produktion. Die Entstehung des Begriffs sowie die Bedeutung cyber-physischer Systeme fur die Realisierung von Industrie 4.0 werden im Beitrag beschrieben. Darauf aufbauend werden Vision und Potenziale von Industrie 4.0 erlautert. Anschliessend werden neue Moglichkeiten und Ansatze zur Gestaltung von Arbeit vorgestellt und anhand energetischer und informatorischer Arbeitsformen strukturiert. Auf der Grundlage ausgewahlter Ergebnisse einer Befragung mit rund 500 Teilnehmern werden die mit der Digitalisierung verbundenen Erwartungen der deutschen Metall-und Elektroindustrie dargestellt. Zudem wird die weitere Entwicklung des Arbeitsmarkts diskutiert und aufgezeigt, dass Digitalisierung weder einen hohen Automatisierungsgrad erfordert noch verursacht.
