While it's certainly not an unusual occurrence here in the Midwest, I happened to notice because I had just attended the AEM Ag Product Safety & Compliance Council and Associated Technical Meeting in Milwaukee. The three days of committee meetings provided a wealth of information on happenings related to agriculture equipment safety and standards development.

简介:While many U.S. manufacturing operations utilize optimization for individual unit processes, smart manufacturing (SM) systems that integrate manufacturing intelligence in real time across an entire production operation are not pervasive in industry. A vendor-agnostic SM platform is under development that integrates information technology, models, and simulations driven by real-time plant data and performance metrics. By utilizing existing process control and automation systems, manufacturing organizations can manage systems at a much lower cost, optimizing process knowledge and improving energy productivity. Three case studies are presented: steam methane reforming to make hydrogen, optimization of a heat treatment furnace for metals processing, and a fuel cell system, all of which utilize high fidelity models as a starting point for optimization and control. The Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition has led the national effort in SM, and the recently established National Manufacturing Innovation Institute funded by DOE, private industry, and state governments will be described.

标题:From Automatization to Neurophenomenology of Artificial Intelligence in Robotics

摘要:The main problem in robotics is strengthening of robot artificial intelligence (I_(A)) system. Its solution will facilitate cooperation of man with robot. Authors suggest advanced technology for I_(A) development. It borrows method of universal (deep) tutoring (T_(U)) relying on semantic axiomatic method (AM). By method T_(U) knowledge understanding is achieved by rational consciousness formation. It uses the utmost mathematical abstractions expressed on language of categories (L_(C)). Being functional one L_(C) is destined for intellectual processes (P_(IR)) description due to its universal constructions. Following T_(U) robot educational space (S_(ER)) is class of categories. Its I_(A) sophistication occurs through new categories inclusion as required in robot I_(A) multilevel hierarchical orientated network (N_(C)) of concepts. Universal laws of robot functioning are embodied as operations of algebraic structures being objects of N_(C). It creates integrated environment of applications (IE_(A)). Robot intercourse with man and its interaction with working space (S_(WR)) make active P_(IR) happening in N_(C). Processes of assignments execution (P_(ER)) begin just when satisfaction to a set of relations in S_(WR) and in robot space of notions is a success. Possibility of P_(IR) to climb up the highest levels of N_(C) and down the lowest ones endows robot with capability to generate P_(ER) making decisions in unfamiliar S_(WR).

WSNs are extremely vulnerable to different types of attacks internally and also mainly external attacks, because of various factors such as nodes with resource that are constrained and packages that are resistant to tamper. As a result, security is an important factor while the infrastructure and protocols of sensor networks are designed. Various types of security threats become possible using wireless communication technology. Sensor networks become vulnerable to a variety of potential attacks, while some of the environment remains unattended. In our comparative study, we discuss a wide variety of attacks that affects the performance of nodes in sensor network and also few mechanisms necessary for intrusion detection that gives right directions for further research work.

From cell phones to computers, these little power sources make the world go around. So it’s no wonder that researchers are jumping at the chance to increase their power or give them new shapes. As a result, researchers have managed to print lithium-ion batteries with new, varying functionalities and forms. Moreover, the researchers did this using PLA. The advantage of 3D printing lithium-ion batteries is the ability to break their standard form. This would allow manufacturers of, for example, cell phones to produce new shapes of phones, no longer encumbered by the standard form of a typical battery, which is usually cylindrical or rectangular in nature. While that’s just one example, the research is crucial in improving the design of electronics across the board. The researchers showed off the abilities of their lithium-ion batteries by printing a LED bangle bracelet. The bracelet could power a set of green LEDs for about 60 second, displaying electrical power two magnitudes lower than commercially available ones. While currently the power is too little for commercial use, the researchers are workshopping ways to improve them.

摘要:Nowadays many materials such as steels, aluminium and titanium alloys can be realised by powder bed solutions melting subsequently powder layers by means of a laser or electron beam (Laser Beam Melting – LBM and Electron Beam Melting – EBM). The microstructure realised by layer-by-layer solidification having high cooling rate cannot be considered isotropic. Therefore, the mechanical properties could be influenced by the building direction. Regarding maraging steel, the study of the influence of the building direction and the heat treatment on the static and axial fatigue strength has been investigated in a previous contribution. A large scatter of the fatigue test results was found because of the presence of detrimental surface and subsurface defects. The aim of this contribution is to present additional axial fatigue test results of maraging steel characterized by different build orientation and providing an analysis of the defects observed at the crack initiation area of the fracture surface.
