标题:Diesel: new data proves that modern diesel cars emit low pollutant emissions on the road

简介:New data released today by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) provides evidence that latest-generation diesel cars emit low pollutant emissions on the road. This data was measured in real-driving conditions by the drivers of the various national type approval authorities. Some 270 new types of diesel cars type-approved against the latest Euro 6d-TEMP standard were introduced on the European market over the past year. The new data shows that all of these diesel cars performed well below the NOx threshold of the real driving emissions (RDE) test, which applies to all new car types since September 2017. What is more, already today most of these vehicles show results that are below the stricter NOx threshold that will be mandatory from January 2020.

Dubbed a miracle material by some engineers, graphene is 200 times stronger than steel and highly conductive materials in the world. It is a great sound barrier and is extremely thin and flexible. While graphene is currently not economically viable for all applications, Ford – in collaboration with Eagle Industries and XG Sciences – has found a way to use small amounts in fuel rail covers, pump covers and front engine covers.

标题:Robot Assisted Machining of Thin-Walled Structures

简介:This paper proposes and studies the use of industrial robot manipulators to act as an active steady rest in machining thin-walled workpieces to prevent machining chatter instability. Feedback control is applied to the robotic steady rest in contrast to the other more popular active control method where the cutting tool is controlled. The entire dynamic system model is characterized by delay differential equations with time varying interactions between the tool side and work side dynamics. Semi-discretization, finite element modeling, and model reduction are applied to obtain a lower order plant model for the feedback control design. Control design and simulation results on turning of thin-walled tubes are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling and control approach for the robotic active steady rest.

标题:Researchers Analyse Polymers Using Atomic Force Microscopy

简介:Despite its increasing popularity, there are still many areas of 3D printing that raise quite a few queries. Most pertinent of these is how to precisely map the way in which photopolymers behave on a microscale while processing. For example, mechanical and flow properties during curing on the single voxel scale are still a mystery. So now, a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) are leveraging atomic force microscopy to gain insight into the structure and properties of photopolymers during processing.

The team are particularly looking to the sample-coupled-resonance photorheology (SCRPR) technique to shed light on some important properties. With this they will measure the voxel-scale changes in real time and potentially improve DLP, SLA and other photosensitive processes. Due to how slicing software build parts as thin layers, reconstructing them in 3D before printing, the physical material’s bulk properties lose similarity to those of the printed parts. As a result, printing conditions, more than anything else, determine the abilities of the parts.

标题:Orientation field guided line abstraction for 3D printing

简介:This paper focuses on printing a 2D color image by using a desktop fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printer. A fully automatic framework is presented to convert a 2D image into a non-photorealistic line drawing which is suitable for 3D printing. Firstly, an image is partitioned into a moderate number of regions, and contours of these regions are extracted to deliver the high level abstraction of the image. The contour lines are further refined by taking into consideration the restrictions of 3D printing. Next, an orientation field based on the contours and feature lines at a finer level is computed to guide the placement of streamlines. The distances between streamlines are carefully controlled such that the density respects the pixel intensity values. Finally, the resulting streamlines are converted into printing paths and printed by using filaments with specified colors. Experimental results show the feasibility and efficacy of our method on portraying a given image by using a few of 3D printable non-intersecting lines while preserving features and tone variation in the image. 摘要:In spite of the different types of upper limb prosthetics that are available in the market now days, the researches should carry out to present a various methods and development in order to reach the optimum level in this field. This paper presents a methodology to design and manufacture an artificial hand for prosthetic application. The proposed design is a five finger hand with the forearm actuated by under -actuated system composed of tendons and servomotors. The manufacture strategy started by design the model using the solidworks software and manufacture by 3d printing techniq ue. it possess 15 Dof, 3dof for each finger. Analyzing of the forward kinematics had also been carried out using the matlab robotic toolbox to present the workspace and fingertip coordinates. The hand was tested to perform gesture mo vements and some grasping movement by using a myoelectric control system, and it was able to approximates the manipulation abilities o f human hand very well.
