The fourth industrial revolution, also called Industrie 4.0, is underway. It revolves around the rise of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and its ability to connect to seemingly everything, including innovations such as additive manufacturing, collaborative robots, artificial intelligence, and augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR). Industrial revolutions themselves are nothing new, but the pace at which they're occurring is remarkable. The pace of change in ancient societies was on a scale of hundreds or thousands of years. In contrast, the industrial revolutions of the 18th and 19th centuries shortened the time span between successive revolutions to less than a hundred years. Depending on the source, the third industrial revolution lasted from 1980 to the Great Recession.

简介:The Fourth Industrial Revolution has become a global buzz word since the World Economic Forum (WEF) adopted it as an annual issue in 2016. It is represented by hyper automation and hyper connectivity based on artificial intelligence (AI), big data, robotics, and Internet of things (IoT). AI, big data, and robotics can contribute to developing hyper automation that can increase productivity and intensify industrial production. Particularly, robots using AI can make decision by themselves as human being on complicated processes. Along with the hyper automation, the hyper connectivity increases not only at national, but also global level by using information and communication technologies (ICT). IoT is the core technology to create the hyper connectivity in Cyber Physical System (CPS) that connects technology, nature, and human being. Accordingly, a perfect convergence between ICT and manufacturing can be completed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era and an extremely efficient flexible production system by spreading IoT in CPS will be established. Under such a condition, innovative clusters must play their traditional roles in cradles of technology innovation and commercialization. It must be difficult challenges for innovative clusters to meet their targets and to be adjusted by the changing new environment at the same time. This paper argues how the Fourth Industrial Revolution can change the global production chain and how core technologies function in industries. Furthermore, it focuses on how innovative clusters have to evolve to respond the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Last, but not least it also analyzes whether or not innovative clusters can play their roles as technology innovation hubs in the real world and CPS in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.

In these cases, many efforts focus on the forming process, such as microblanking and microextrusion. Meanwhile, the quality of the fabricated parts also attracts attention. In this paper, an intensive review on the development of progressive microforming technologies and the formed parts is presented, and the influence of size effect to dimensional accuracy, material flow, geometrical feature, and fracture is also discussed.

标题:Sensitivity analysis and optimization for occupant safety in automotive frontal crash test

简介:Abstract Nowadays, safety is a competitive advantage for automotive products and therefore receives considerable attention by automotive research centers. In this paper, a frontal crash test of sedan product of an under development platform is simulated and occupant head injuries are investigated based on ECE R94 regulation. First, an initial evaluation of the crash behavior of the sedan car is carried out and then airbag, dummy and seat belt are added to the model to study occupant head injuries under crash test. In this study, peak head acceleration and head injury criteria (HIC36) are considered as two output parameters based on ECE R94 regulation. Considering these two output parameters, sensitivity analysis and optimization are performed using Taguchi and analysis of variance (ANOVA) methods. In this way, airbag distance to dummy, trigger time, initial inflator gas temperature and tank pressure are considered as input parameters. Obtained results show that in all computer experiments designed by Taguchi responses values satisfy the requirements of ECE R94. Two different out-of-position conditions are considered by reducing the distance between dummy and airbag relative to the optimum design obtained by Taguchi. The worst case of design and its response values are also predicted using Taguchi. Finally, re-evaluating finite element analyses are performed based on the optimum and the worst cases. The results of these simulations show the validity of approach of this paper.

The results of this survey show some problems of New Zealand local manufacturing enterprises, which are significant for guiding the industry for making full use of cutting-edge technologies to design the machine management platform in the near future.

标题:Reliable data gathering in the Internet of Things using artificial bee colony

简介:The Internet of Things (IoT) technology enables physical devices to communicate with each other for preparing, gathering, and sharing hazard warnings or critical information without human intervention. With respect to emergency applications of IoT technology, an essential issue is to provide an efficient and robust scheme for data gathering. The proposed solution in the existing approaches is to construct a spanning tree over the IoT devices and collect data using the tree. The shortcoming of these algorithms is that they do not take into account the probability of device mobility or failure. In such cases, the spanning tree is split, and it becomes impossible to deliver critical data to the base station on time. In this paper, we propose a reliable spanning tree construction algorithm, which is called reliable spanning tree construction in IoT (RST-IoT). Our algorithm utilizes the artificial bee colony algorithm to generate proper trees. In this method, hop count distances of the devices from the base station, residual energies of the devices, and their mobility probabilities are considered to measure the appropriateness of the trees. Moreover, the proposed algorithm generates a number of trees instead of a single one. These trees are arranged according to their preferences and used for data gathering in succession. Each tree is employed for data gathering upon splitting the preceding one. The simulation results show that RST-IoT improves the reliability of data gathering in emergency applications compared to the previous approaches.
