One option for this '3D-printing' of metallic products using the WAAM process is to apply the metal using the GMAW (gas-metal arc welding) process delivered by a standard 6-axis welding robot.

【摘要】 1 INTRODUCTION: Directed energy deposition - wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) applied using GMAW (gas-metal arc welding, also known as DED-GMAAM or GMAAM) is a process being investigated for many applications and alloys. In this study, an experimental investigation has been carried out to characterize structural soundness and material properties of GMAAM components made from three feedstock wires commonly used in structural steel fabrications. This investigation used a combination of standard and modified weld destructive testing methods.
